The debut album from Shorter Stories features 9 new arrangements of some of Wayne Shorter's best known and most often played compositions. His "comeback" album, Footprints live! (released in 2002), features re-imaginings of several of his older tunes. In that spirit, New Juju presents compositions recorded by Art Blakey and Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet, as well as those appearing on Wayne's solo releases on the Blue Note label. These pieces are reworked both rhythmically and harmonically, while preserving the original essence of each.
